Manchester UK, 9th October 2024 - One of the UK’s leading humanitarian aid charities, Human Appeal, announced the release of its ‘One Year On’ report, to measure the impact of its humanitarian efforts amid the ongoing Gaza conflict, a year since the charity deployed relief aid during the current emergency.
Human Appeal has been present in the region since the charity’s inception in 1991 and has since continuously delivered the widest range of humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable, even under extremely dangerous conditions. This includes hot meals, food parcels, orphan sponsorships, mobile medical clinics, clean water, and shelter items sourced from both inside and outside the Gaza strip. However, this report has a specific focus on Human Appeal’s efforts over the last year since it began deploying emergency aid in the region, due to the unprecedented level of suffering and devastation. It’s also anticipating future humanitarian needs of Gaza with 1.2 million people facing homelessness, according to the World Bank.
Gaza represents the one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history, and this impact report aims to show not only the efforts of Human Appeal’s team on the ground, but equally reflects just how stark the need for continued aid is. Since the start of the current emergency in Gaza, the report reveals, Human Appeal has:
● Delivered over 2.3 million locally made hot meals
● Provided over 67,000 food parcels
● Distributed shelter items (tents, mattresses, blankets, clothing) reaching over 35,000 vulnerable
● Ongoing clean water distribution using water tanker trucks with a capacity of 36,500 litres per day
● Deployed weekly mobile family medical clinics to provide primary healthcare treatment reaching over 70,000
● Delivered over £5 million in humanitarian aid in conjunction with Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO)
As the humanitarian situation worsens in Gaza, Human Appeal is one of the few humanitarian organisations present throughout the Gaza strip and it is committed to continue to deliver aid for as long as is necessary.
