Water wells in Senegal

The Messenger of Allah said, ‘’The best charity is giving water to drink.” (Ahmad)

£13 – Provide one person with access to clean water in a village without access to clean water in Senegal.

Each Ramadan, the doors to heaven are thrown open. Good deeds in the month of mercy are rewarded many times over. Give the best of charities and reap the blessings of this Sadaqah Jariyah year after year.

In rural areas of Fatick, Senegal, many communities are forced to use river or standing water, or walk two-to-six kilometres for clean water.

This Ramadan, we’re working to provide four water wells in four key villages. With your help, we’ll install wells in Saokhom, Foua Diaga, Ndiosmone, and Diokhar, providing a total of 3,420 people with sustainable clean water for years to come.

Sadaqah Jariyah

A water well doesn’t just provide the best of charities, it’s a Sadaqah Jariyah that continues to give, and every drop continues to bless the giver for as long as it’s in use. Change the future for an entire community and reap the multiplied blessings of Ramadan, when good deeds are rewarded many times over.

Your water gives life this Ramadan

Water is about much more than quenching thirst; it is what creates jobs and helps communities to lift themselves out of poverty.

When families struggle for water, it doesn’t just mean that they don’t have clean water to drink; without water, families can’t grow food, feed their livestock, stay clean, or have produce to sell. Without your support, residents will always be stuck trying to overcome the water shortages.

With these new wells, children who help to fetch water will be able to return to school, and mothers will have the time to earn a living, grow vegetables to eat, or take care of young children.

Our project will be overseen by water and field engineers and a site supervisor, ensuring that the water pumps are installed sustainably in areas where groundwater is safe and accessible in the long term, ensuring that your charity provides clean water year after year. We also train a village committee on the day-to-day maintenance and financial management of the new solar pumps to help ensure they can continue providing clean water for years to come.
