A lifetime of clean water

For months, bombs have decimated Gaza’s water networks, pipes, boreholes, and wells. More than half of Gaza’s water supply system has been damaged. Support our Gaza water appeal and provide a sustainable source of clean water, which provides 52,000 litres of water per hour.

Families are cut off from clean water right now. The bombs and land attacks have decimated the water system. Sewage networks, boreholes, and desalination plants have been destroyed, and it is almost impossible to complete repairs as more bombs fall.
Even before the ongoing attacks, Palestinians in Gaza spent years drinking water polluted by salt, seawater, sewage, and bacteria, which led to health complications among children such as renal failure, fatal diarrhoea, and dehydration.
Today, as many as 70% of people in Gaza have resorted to drinking contaminated, salty water. A person needs 15 litres of water per day, but the UN estimates Gazans get only 3 litres per day for all their needs.
Sewage treatment plants have been destroyed, resulting in sewage floods and a highly dangerous risk of disease, especially as families are displaced and living in the open.

Our work in Gaza
We’ve been changing lives in Palestine for 32 years.
Before these recent attacks, our Gaza team had completed extensive water projects in Gaza, including disinfecting the entire water network, building a desalination plant for 15,000 people at Al Aqsa University, and helping to fight the critical medical crisis by providing tens of thousands of medical supplies.
In 2023, we helped 714,763 people in Palestine through emergency work, shelter, food security, medical, water and sanitation projects.
